OUR STORY

Lactation Support Rooted in Compassion, Culture, and Care

Reclaimed Journey was born out of a calling—to center the voices, needs, and lived experiences of families too often left out of traditional lactation spaces. I founded this practice with one core belief: everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported on their feeding journey.

My own path into this work was shaped by both personal experience and professional passion. I’ve walked alongside families in hospitals and community spaces, and I’ve witnessed the beauty and the barriers that come with navigating infant feeding—especially for Black families and other communities pushed to the margins.

I created Reclaimed Journey as a space where families could reclaim their power, their stories, and their right to be nurtured with dignity. Whether you're breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or finding your own way—your journey is valid here.

At the heart of this practice is a commitment to:

Compassion – You’ll be met with empathy, patience, and nonjudgmental care at every step.
Culture – Your cultural values, traditions, and parenting choices are respected and honored.
Care – You’ll receive evidence-based, individualized lactation support designed to meet your goals.

This work is not just about feeding babies—it’s about restoring trust in our bodies, building connection, and breaking cycles of misinformation and inequity. Our vision is that Black families will survive and thrive in well-supported environments.

ABOUT ME

My name is Monét (she/her). I’m a Mississippi native who has made North Carolina home with my husband and our two active kids. My sons are the inspiration behind the work that I do. With each pregnancy and lactation journey, we faced joys and challenges that gave me the drive to reclaim my journey to parenthood. I am passionate about educating and equipping families to make informed decisions about their lactation journey.

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, perinatal mental health specialist, and human lactation researcher, I offer lactation support to help you and your baby achieve your feeding goals. Every journey is unique, and I will hold space for you along yours. Here at Reclaimed Journey, I want you to be educated, equipped, and supported.

Please reach out to set up an initial consultation. I look forward to working with you and your family!
